Benefits & Council Tax Administrator

Salary: GBP23,000 per annum
Are you a detail-oriented individual with a passion for ensuring efficient benefit allocation and payments? We are seeking a Benefits & Council Tax Administrator to join our clients dynamic team in Birmingham. As a crucial member of their housing benefit and council tax department, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards and contributing to the success of their team.
Key Responsibilities:
Efficiently capture and allocate electronic daily remittances, ensuring accuracy in remittance numbers Collaborate with local councils to resolve any discrepancies in remittances Enter council tax data into the housing management system for both new and existing properties Assist in producing and distributing monthly rent reports within the 28-day payment cycle Handle rent report queries promptly and fairly Respond to queries from Local Authorities in a timely manner Work independently and efficiently, meeting deadlines consistently Manage remittances, council tax, and reports for different regions as required Person Specification:
Experience in processing various types of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims In-depth knowledge of Housing Benefit Legislation and related Acts Familiarity with Council Tax Support schemes, discounts, and exemptions Proven experience in meeting targets and deadlines Strong numeracy and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel Customer-facing experience, demonstrating excellent communication skills Ability to plan, organize, and prioritise tasks effectively Respect for confidentiality and a keen attention to detail Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to share knowledge and experience Ability to remain calm and tactful in challenging situations Education and Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 GCSEs grade C or above (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths.
