Trident Healthcare Solutions are currently looking for an experienced Band 7 Biomedical Scientist in Blood Transfusion for a locum vacancy in North West.
This highly advanced UKAS accredited laboratory delivers quality service, working with fully automated three well established BioradIH–1000 immuno–haematology analysers. You will be part of a collaborative team of trained Biomedical Scientists and other competent professionals.
What is the day–to–day of the role:
Provide technical supervision in the department.Support the team in the day to day organisation, management and supervision the laboratory area and ensure delivery of quality service.Training and development of staff.Work with clinical staff and Transfusion practitioners, you will ensure that blood transfusion is carried out by trained and skilled staff.Deputise for the Lead BMS and team leader in Haematology as required.Perform specialist investigations and techniques in all areas the department.Regularly meet with section staff to discuss current departmental issues.Be responsible for inventory management to ensure efficient operation and continuity of service.Evaluate and develop new techniques and equipment.Check and confirm the identity and quality of specimens/samples at all relevant stages in line with established procedures and protocols.Follow established procedures and protocols regarding the nature, sequence and timing of activities to correctly complete required task. You will ensure that legal requirements of the Blood Safety & Quality Regulations S1 2005/50 are adhered to along with standards set by the CQC, UKAS, NICE & MHRA are achieved by the Trust in relation to Blood Transfusion.
Qualifications & Education:
MSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualificationHCPC registrationSpecialist portfolio in relevant field (or equivalent) Essential experience:
Highly developed technical and troubleshooting skills.Experience as a specialist in a pathology laboratory.Quality management experience.Working knowledge of health and safety regulations/risk assessments.Full understanding of the accreditation requirements.Proven ability to manage resources effectively. The ideal Biomedical Scientist will be HCPC registered hold an MSc qualification in Blood Transfusion or Haematology with a minimum of 7 years' experience in a lab based Biomedical Scientist position.
