Are you passionate about scientific publishing and keen to put your editorial skills at work in the field of environmental sciences? We're working with a lovely scientific society specialising in environmental research and natural sciences, who are seeking an Assistant Editor to help the operations of their esteemed international journal. In this role, you'll coordinate an equitable peer review process for all article submissions, and support the other editors with the day to day running of editorial operations. You will act as main contact for authors, reviewers, the editorial board, and the publisher, guaranteeing effective communication and coordination.
Key Duties:
Supporting the editorial office Overseeing timely and fair peer review process for submitted articlesCoordinating journal's marketing, publicity, and web-based activitiesEnsuring timely communication of decisions to authorsMaintaining accurate records of manuscript processingManaging publication schedule and quality controlCollaborating on marketing campaigns and online promotionsDeveloping supporting online materials for published papersRegularly update journal web content and engage in social media promotion
As an Assistant Editor, you'll collaborate closely with the other editors to manage the peer review process, maintaining meticulous records and promptly informing authors of decisions. You'll be at the forefront of our journal's visibility, assisting with marketing activities through online campaigns, engaging content creation, and social media promotion.
The ideal candidate will thrive in clear communication, particularly when translating complex scientific information into accessible language. You will be able to manage time and priorities wisely, and have a working proficiency of MS Office and content management systems.
