Historic England has an exciting opportunity for you to become our Assistant Business Manager in the South West team.

National salary range: £30,155 – £30,300 pro-rata

Greater London + salary range: £33,356 - £35,000 pro-rata

What you will be doing

The Assistant Business Manager will support the Business Manager in providing feedback to the Local Leadership team on operational and grants budgeting, designation casework, and in ensuring compliance with agreed practices and standards. They will provide quality assurance in relation to our listing, advisory and grant work. They will lead the Listing coordination function of the Business Support teams and be responsible for developing the team’s capabilities in the delivery of designation casework, grant-aid and advice.

What we are looking for:

Experience of managing complex business processes or projects

Ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines

Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to handle customer queries and complaints with tact and courtesy

Ability to work positively and constructively as part of a team

Previous experience of financial management

Line management experience and an understanding of the associated responsibilities

Ability to influence peers and senior colleagues
