JOB PURPOSE for the assistant accountant.
As the assistant accountant you will be reporting to the Group Financial Controller and will lead on the production of accurate and reliable monthly financial information for the monitoring of business performance, ensure that processes are fit for purpose and operate efficiently, and that financial control are appropriate and operate effectively.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES for the assistant accountant
Prepare monthly journals for prepayments and accruals, liaising with budget holders regarding expenditure that has been incurred but not invoiced.Preparation of the month end group management accounts for FC review Month end balance sheet reconciliations/ report preparations.Oversee intercompany current account reconciliationPrepare and post the monthly payroll journal, liaising with Payroll Departments to follow up on any queriesPreparation of quarterly VAT returnPreparing annual statutory accounts year–end audit preparation.Liaising with overseas officesAssisting FC with pension administrationAd hoc duties as and when required within finance including but not limited to information and reports preparation. KEY SKILLS required for the assistant accountant:
• IT literate including strong Microsoft Excel skills and Business Central• Good understanding of financial accounting and businesses processes• High level of accuracy and attention to detail• Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to interact with all levels of the organisation
EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS as the assistant accountant:
• As the ideal candidate, you will be a part/finalist qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) and/or studying towards ACCA/CIMA qualification• Minimum of 3 years' experience working within an accounting environment• Experience of management accounting, and ideally experience of managing their own corporate entity/entities• Experience of using accounting software packages
