Job Specification:
Under the guidance of the Estate Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:
Vineyard Operations:
Annual pruning Managing the vine canopy during the growing season Crop spraying Mowing Use of mechanical hoes and vine trimmers Data collection for yield monitoring Assisting in managing contract labour teams Operating frost protection and fertigation systems
Estate and Garden Maintenance:
Working within beds of mixed planting Care of shrubs, box, and yew topiaries Lawn mowing and general lawn care throughout the season Strimming and hedge cutting Use of herbicides and fungicides Maintenance of the ponds Pruning of fruit trees and roses Caring for a small herd of Alpaca
Candidate requirements
While specific vineyard experience would be beneficial, it is not essential, as we provide training and opportunities for professional development. The successful applicant should, however, have experience in tractor driving and operating both tractor-mounted and garden machinery.
Previous experience as a farm hand, tractor driver, or in a related agricultural role. Familiarity with agricultural machinery and equipment. Knowledge of vineyard operations and best practices is a plus. A strong work ethic and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality crops.
Salary and Working Hours
Hours of Work: Full-time, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Some weekend work may be required during harvest and the summer season, with advance agreement.
Salary: In the region of £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
