About Us:

Rediscover your commitment to caring.

At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we are focused on putting our residents and local businesses at the heart of every decision. From the policy decisions we make through to the services we deliver, it is vital that we put the needs of our community first. We want to give everyone a great quality of life, with access to a comfortable home, sustainable and desirable employment options, and the chance to live and work in a healthy and safe environment. Our outstanding social work teams play a vital role in achieving these goals.

The Role:

As a member of one of the dedicated disability social work teams (based in Kensington Town Hall), you will find a collaborative team spirit awaits you. Together with the team, you will deliver high-quality social work services to disabled children and young people and their families. As you manage your own complex and challenging caseload using a variety of techniques, you will effectively address risk and plan interventions for vulnerable children and young people. Leadership is a key part of your work, too. That means being a crucial source of support to our less experienced team members, modelling expert practice and providing guidance where needed. This extends to coaching and developing newly qualified social workers. Beyond this, you will represent the team at departmental and inter-agency meetings, contribute to our quality assurance initiatives and help us develop our practices even further through your own research.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

About You:

A Social Work qualification is essential, along with Social Work England registration.

This role requires sensitivity and interpersonal skills, and it involves working closely with vulnerable children who are impacted by ill health or significant disability. You will therefore need three years post-qualification experience in children and families' social work. This should include working with disabled children or young people up to 25 years old for the transitions post. You should have a comprehensive understanding of child abuse, neglect, discrimination, relevant legislation, safeguarding and court proceedings. In terms of leadership qualities, you may have experience of student supervision, supporting ASYEs, have completed your PEPS 1 & 2 or hold a teaching qualification.

Join us in this interesting and stimulating work, and you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave in addition to bank holidays. You will also be entitled to a zone 1 and 2 annual travel card allowance.

Please apply online explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description.

Please do not upload any documents, including CVs/Covering Letters or supporting statements, as these documents will not be reviewed and could result in your application not being shortlisted.
