About Us

Rotala PLC is an AIM-listed passenger transport group with operations in various locations across the UK. We operate local bus services and coaches in Birmingham, Preston, Greater Manchester and Greater London. Revenue sources come from a mixture of corporate contracts, local authority and on bus cash from fare paying customers. We are a fast growing organisation having made multiple acquisitions over recent years and have a publicly announced intention to continue this. The group had revenues in excess of GBP90m last financial year.

The role

We see this role as an opportunity for you to develop into a Finance professional in an innovative and forward thinking company. The person who takes up this Trainee Accounts Assistant role will work within the Finance function which consists of eleven people. The role reports to the Finance Director and is overseen by the Finance Director. The list below sets out the key tasks that the role will involve, this is not limiting as you will get a broad exposure to the business.

Responsibilities and Duties

This is an exciting new role within the business, and will have a strong focus on: internal systems audit, assisting with weekly / monthly management reporting and business process improvements. You will work alongside the Financial Controller and Accounts Payable Manager to assist them with their tasks as required. In addition, the following lists out some of the month end processes that you may be involved in:

Internal review and auditing of stock management and processesPosting supplier invoices and credit notesPosting supplier payments and refundsReconciling supplier accounts to statementsDealing with invoice and payment queriesPutting together weekly payment runs based upon a cash flow budget set by managementKeeping the ledgers up to date and allocating paymentsSupporting the group procurement function

Qualifications and Skills

Excellent ability in the use of Microsoft packages especially ExcelGood work ethic and motivation to grow within the business and learnNatural desire to problem solve and get hands on where requiredSome experience in a similar role preferred
