Acapella.
Hi all, a long shot and a bit left field one here, but anyone fancy getting together to work on some vocal harmony singing ?
If you've heard the stunning Pentatonix or Queen, ABBA, CSNY etc, you'll know how amazing harmony singing can sound, but obviously it takes much work to get to a good standard.
To be clear, although I have played rhythm guitar/bass and sung harmony in bands and love harmonies, I have not sung in or set up an acapella group before, so we'd all need to chip in ideas to get things moving along.
I have no arranging skills for group harmony parts (which is a serious skill on it's own), so we'd all need to help each other work out our vocal parts. There are resources on the internet that may help us.
You'll need to have a good ear for pitch, can hold a tune and be pretty self motivated and enthusiastic, as it will take lots of work/repetition, at home and together. You do not have to be the best vocalist in the world, it's all about harmony and blend.
I'm kicking this off, but anyone with actual knowledge or experience of acapella would be a brilliant asset, and anyone who has a bit of piano/kbd ability would be really helpful too, just to play some chords for working out our harmony lines - and to keep us in tune lol.
Happy to go anywhere with this, song wise - from old time to modern day, and any genre. We can begin with simple stuff and all learn as we go.
Obviously, this a for fun/passion project, can't see us gigging too often, or at all lol, but you never know. Male and female welcome. (ps this isn't a choir, we're talking a group of probably 8 or less).
(fyi - I'm not a lead singer but I can hold a note and am good at harmonising)

Cheers and Merry AcaChristmas all :) - sorry couldn't resist...
