It has an environmentally-responsible construction, as not only does Taylor use responsibly-sourced Ebony in the construction of their instruments, but now at the heart of the 500 Series this model uses Urban Ironbark as their main soundbox tonewood. This wood is entirely new to the world of acoustic guitars, and delivers a distinctive musical personality that's perfectly matched by the Torrefied Sitka Spruce top piece.

Giving you a great playing experience for your fretting hand the Tropical Mahogany neck has a beautifully smooth-playing satin finish. It has an Ebony fretboard offering with 20 frets, offering an incredibly smooth playing experience. In addition to this a Venetian cutaway gives you easy access to the upper frets while its elegant slope adds to the fantastic looks of the Taylor 514ce. It also has a popular 1-3/4" nut width and has century inlays and Tortoise/Ivoroid rosette to give it plenty of visual flair.

Tonally it produces a sweet, high-fidelity character with bold, muscular punch. In addition to this, the inclusion of V-Class bracing allows the top-piece to vibrate more freely, for improved natural projection.

The critically acclaimed Expression System 2 electronics have a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design which allows it to beautifully capture the dynamic properties of the guitar. The pickup has three separately positioned sensors which have been individually calibrated in order to increase the capture of the guitar's dynamic range.
