Finished in Racing Red with White Coke Bottle Stripes, Black Sports Seats, Black Carpet, Black Cloth Tonneau, Side Screens & Black Cloth Hood ( Weather Gear ) .

Correctly registered as a Cobra Replica on an age related No plate ( V )

The origins of the Cobra are unknown, but it based on a steel ladder chassis with Jaguar Front Suspension and Jaguar Independent Rear Suspension - Mated to a Rover SDI 3.5 V8 with an LT95 5 Speed Gearbox. It is a 427 Model but fitted with Wire Wheels in the 289 style.

Some of the original build including the registration was undertaken by Magnum Engineering and some paperwork refers to it as a DAX but the original constructor has passed away so we have been unable to verify.

DVLA records show only a few thousand miles covered since build but due to age we commenced with a recommissioning program to fully service and to attend to some items that were showing signs of perishing. Namely the front suspension was re-bushed and new Spax Adjustable Shocks fitted, the Exhaust silencers have been replaced and custom tail pipes manufactured. Some trim work has been reworked and much general detailing has been completed to yield an example which presents very well and sounded fantastic.

On first test it performed well, and the gearbox was slick without any synchro issues. Despite recording good compression results and replacing a weeping sump gasket revealed honing marks on the bores still evident on extended test the engine was smoking when hot. The decision was made to pull the Engine for inspection - once apart it was clear that the Engine had been refurbished as per the invoice on file but there was no mention of any Cylinder Head work, at this point it was too much of a gamble to just refurbish the Cylinder Heads so we commissioned the rest of the engine to be professionally stripped, measured inspected, cleaned and rebuilt up as a Short Motor with New Shells and New Rings, the Flywheel has been skimmed and New Oil Pump Gears fitted along with a New Timing Chain Assembly - The Cam assembly is a Kent Fast Road Cam and showing little use was replaced. The Cylinder Heads have been Vapour Blasted and Re-machined with New Guides and Valves fitted - the valve top seats have been correctly machined for the Kent Double Springs. A new Water Pump has been purchased along with various Hoses & gaskets for reassembly. The Engine has been detail painted in Satin Black and the Gearbox Bell Housing has been vapour blasted - all work has been done to the highest standards with receipts on file.

Most parts to complete have been purchased excepting a couple of rocker arms are showing wear and will need replacing before assembly.

To Finish the project the short Engine needs the Cylinder heads etc fitting and along with the gearbox and ancillaries along with fitting back into the car.

Once reassembled the geometry will require checking and adjusting as required and sadly, we caught the rear valence manoeuvring off the ramp which will require a local repair.

Our Workshop is fully committed for the next couple of months, so we have made a decision to offer the car to the market as an unfinished project given the finishing works are not beyond most enthusiasts.

The Market Value of the completed Car is circa £25995 and if you would be interested in purchasing completed, we can offer to complete the works and discuss final spec for later 2023 completion.

Supplied with 2 sets of Keys along with a History File Containing build photographs and various invoices etc etc along with old MOT certificates and an Experian Autodata Report to confirm no adverse information recorded against the following registers: Stolen, High Risk, Finance, ABI Condition Alert, Scrapped, Plate Change, Export Data, Import Data, Extra Data.
