The last of the air-cooled 911s, with the biggest factory engine
upgrade option and a Flamingo Red leather interior? Truly, this is
the Ultimate 993.
The odyssey of this stunning and unique Carrera 4S is a rich one,
beginning on July 29, 1997, with an opening chapter that raises as
many questions as it answers.
Initial registration documents intriguingly name Porsche itself as
the owner. 10 years later, in 2007, following a record of service
stamps (included in the original warranty booklet) spanning across
Germany and France, the vehicle found itself in the hands of Rainer
Henkel. Henkel, known beyond his Olympic success in the pool for
his foray into racing within the amateur circuits of the Porsche
Cup, assumed stewardship of the car without significant fanfare in
motorsports but with an evident affinity for the essence of
Porsche.
The baton was then passed to Jrgen Spitzer in 2009 and Gerd
Bhler, who took the reins in 2014. His chapter added to the car's
mystique, residing in the windswept beauty of Sylt-an island as
unique as the car's own story. The stamps and records serve as a
testament to its well-documented and well-traveled existence on
that side of the pond until its arrival in the United States.
Since 2021, this distinguished vehicle has benefitted from an
investment of nearly $25,000 in meticulous maintenance and service.
Documentation confirms that the servicing was expertly handled by
Knpfing Motorsport in Estenfeld, Germany, the Porsche dealership
in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany before coming to the US.
The 993 series C2S, C4S, and Turbo are often called the ultimate
Porsches. The C4S stands apart from its brethren with its
distinctive wide-body stance, inherited from the legendary 993
Turbo. This form isn't merely aesthetic; it contributes to the
car's exceptional grip and handling prowess, making it a true
driver's machine.
The C4S's intelligent all-wheel-drive system delivers unwavering
traction, whether carving through mountain passes or navigating
rain-soaked city streets. It expands the 911's usability without
sacrificing the visceral thrills the model is known for.
Under the iconic rear decklid lies a naturally aspirated 3.8L
flat-six engine, a rare factory option providing an exciting power
bump. Its distinctive sound and linear power delivery are both
intoxicating and engaging, a fitting end to the era of the
air-cooled 911 legacy. Whether you're a seasoned Porsche enthusiast
or seeking an entry into the legendary 911 experience, this car
promises to ignite a passion for driving that few modern vehicles
can replicate.
The Porsche 993 is a testament to the brand's dedication to
engineering excellence and performance-driven design. Its
combination of advanced features, unmatched driving dynamics, and
timeless aesthetics makes it a highly sought-after gem among
automotive enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Upon arriving at Canepa, vehicles are treated to the "Canepa
Difference" This includes a complete mechanical inspection.
Everything is serviced as needed and road-tested by Bruce Canepa.
It is finished off with a Concours quality detail. The undersides
and wheel wells are hand-cleaned, ensuring that each surface is
spotless. The trunk, interior, and engine bay are also cleaned,
ensuring the vehicle is presented as though it had just rolled out
of the factory. With the remaining step being the exterior, the
finish is polished and waxed to an "as new" finish.
