In the 1990s Aston leaned into its reputation as a maker of devastatingly quick, very expensive low volume sports cars. Just 280 high performance Vantages left the factory over seven years and even fewer were upgraded by the Works to the more powerful V600 specification. This is one of those cars; a much-historied Vantage that has been maintained without concern for the expense by its four owners. In superb, virtually showroom-fresh condition, opportunities like this to buy one of the finest classic Astons of recent years do not come along very often. Registered 5th July 1994, this example is supplied with full factory handbooks and service books, together with a mass of invoicing and complete service history showing 16 stamps and many inches of filed invoicing. In total there are 11 AMW service stamps to 72,695 miles in 2006, and having been stored between 2006 and 2012, there is further stamping from one independent service agent, followed by a further 5 stamps from 2013 to 2019 by specialist Rikki Cann. The next service was in February 2021 with the last service on 8th Dec 2023 by independent specialist at 78,000 miles. There is a huge and highly detailed history file documenting every expenditure. Significant ongoing works by AMW demonstrate that no fault or issue was overlooked and was immediately rectified by AMW. During the current owner's possession, the superchargers were rebuilt with new bearing packs in February 2021, while two services and new front tyres were also fitted during the last 12 months. File correspondence from the original owner to AMW details the upgrades to V600 specification in September 2002 at 38,042 miles. The total cost of this work was £46,334 and all work undertaken by AMW. The Engine was rebuilt again by AMW at 53,000 miles at cost of £24,000. V600 specification includes: Modified superchargers, Strengthened torque tube, Revised throttle body operation, New carbon fibre engine cover, Upgraded vented and grooved brakes, 6 pot callipers at the front and 4 pot at the back, Uprated road springs, shock absorbers and anti roll bar, Revised suspension bump stops and suspension geometry, V600 grille and badges, Super sports exhaust system, History of Aston Martin included in file, Original V600 Driving Dynamics Package, press release from October 1998 in file. This Vantage is one of the 280 produced over seven years and its chassis number suggests it may be one of the first. The standard car had two Eton superchargers bolted to its Tadek Marek 5.3litre V8 to deliver close to 550bhp. In 1998 Aston Martin announced the V600 upgrade for the Virage Vantage, which hiked power to 600bhp while suspension and steering enhancements were designed to improve handling and driver engagement. The V600 package was available to existing owners of the Virage Vantage as a factory-supplied upgrade. Original promotional material for the upgrades and correspondence with the first owner are included in the history file. The history records certainly fall under the definition of ‘fastidious.’ There are 16 service book stamps, all but one by AMW or specialist Rikki Cann. A rare, fast and highly collectable motorcar.
