1986 Lotus Eclat Excel SE. With only 2,075 Excel SE's produced by Lotus between 1982-1992, this silver example is one of only 3 known that remain in this colour and trim. With the prices of the Lotus Esprit where they are it is no shock to see that the prices of Excel SE's have been steadily rising in the past few years. While still remaining affordable the Excel SE provides a lot of value for money. The 5-speed manual gearbox and 180hp 2.2 litre inline-4 engine easily keep up with modern day traffic and provide a smooth and comfortable ride. With the car boasting 50:50 weight distribution and power steering it handles very well and takes corners with ease where other modern classics struggle. Here at JK Classics we have stripped, assessed, re-gasketed & rebuilt the engine with new belts and clutch fitted, stripped and rebuilt the braking system with new discs, pads and calipers all round, replaced the tyres and attended to any issues underneath the vehicle. The power steering pump & steering rack were reconditioned along with the water pump and heater matrix, new brake master cylinder fitted, interior sympathetically conditioned (as most Lotus fans will know the interior trim left much to be desired!), wheels have been powder coated and any other issues that we found have been attended to. With no advisories found through MOT it has been test driven numerous times with no issues found. As can be expected there are a few minor chips and scratches on the fibreglass body but nothing unexpected when dealing with a car over 30 years of age. All electrics have been in full working order (including the pop up headlights!) and overall the car is ready for the road. As always viewing is encouraged and test driving can be arranged.
