This lot will be auctioned via Historics Classic and Sportscar Auctioneers, At the Ascot Racecourse sale on Saturday the 2nd of March 2024, High Street, Ascot, SL5 7JX. The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupe with 2+2 seating was added in 1965, with production continuing until October 1980. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina with the launch of its sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback whilst retaining the style and shape of a coupe. Acceleration of the GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its increased weight although top speed was improved by 5mph to 105mph due to better aerodynamics.Originally registered on 22nd March 1978 this one owner MGB GT is finished in Inca Yellow with grey striped interior. The history file dates back to 1993, these cars are not complicated mechanically and can be looked after by a competent enthusiast. The Owners Club are also very supportive in their advice and parts supply. This manual gearbox with overdrive example runs well although the bodywork will require some time and investment, hardly surprising as it is 45 years old. Offered for sale without reserve, this MGB GT is supplied with a V5C registration certificate together with a collection of paperwork.
