1974 Dodge Charger SE 440
Car History
One of 208 every produced! The 1974 Charger was the last of its
kind before the 1975 personal luxury coupe replacement came. The
era of the muscle car was over but the third-gen Charger had a
successful racing career in NASCAR. Famous names like Buddy Baker
and Richard Petty drove them and Petty has gone on record
proclaiming this generation Charger was his favorite as he won 25
races with it between 1972 and 1977.
We have a time capsule of a 1974 Dodge Charger SE 440 here at
Adventure Classics that is all original and has the Build Sheet to
prove it.
Engine & Drivetrain
Only about 1, Chargers were equipped with the 440 engine,
and only 208 of them were hardtops like this one. Ours has the
original RB 440 that was rated at a respectable 275 horsepower and
375 lb-ft of torque in 1974.
This is the car's original engine and is in original condition and
has all the factory stock equipment like the intake manifold, carb,
cast iron exhaust manifolds, valve covers, air conditioning, and
most other engine parts and accessories.
Interior
The Charger interior's overall design was unchanged from the
third-generation's 1971 introduction, although the upholstery
pattern on the vinyl seats evolved. The high-back split seats are
comfortable but lack lateral support and have a unique brown and
white pattern.
All the rest of the interior looks like it did when it left the
showroom with the factory stock door panels, dash and gauges,
headliner, seat belts, carpeting, and radio.
It also has original paperwork that came with the car including the
original order sheet, broadcast sheet, warranty brochure and
more.
Exterior
The 1974 Charger has a drop-dead bronze and black paint job over
its power bulge hood with 440 Magnum badging, its grille slats
pushed forward, hood pins, Rallye package, larger quarter-panel
windows, and body-side stripes.
The Charger is known for the Coke-bottle profile and will always be
regarded as one of the most beautiful of its era, and it is set off
by the factory Road Wheels and white letter performance tires.
Conclusion
Our time capsule 1974 Dodge Charger SE 440 we have here at
Adventure Classics is so original and must be seen to be
appreciated. It is a very low production model you will be hard
pressed to find anywhere else for sale, with only 208 ever made,
how many are still around?
