Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to offer this
drag strip ready 1972 Plymouth Duster. This Duster isn't just a
drag strip monster but is also a show car with the factory steel
body painted in a white pearl base coat with blue metallic flake
and custom airbrushed graphics. This one turns the power up with a
motor built by Big Al's Tox Box that includes a 8/71 Blower Shop
billet supercharger with dual QuickFuel E-85 650CFM carburetors, a
highly polished Enderle BAU-2 top hat, 408CID V-8 with an Eagle
stroker crank, Eagle H-beam rods, Eagle forged pistons, ARP
fasteners, COMP camshaft, lifters and rocker arms, Edelbrock
Performer RPM aluminum heads, ceramic coated Super Competition
Hooker headers feeding into a 4" exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers,
MSD distributor and a 727 TorqueFlite transmission with a PTC 3,500
RPM stall converter. All those goodies add up to an estimated 900hp
and 800LB-FT of torque on around 14Lbs of boost. Of course, with
all the motor upgrades the interior needed some safety upgrades
that consist of a 8-point roll cage, a pair of SCAT ProCar bucket
racing seats trimmed in black and blue, and a set of RCI harnesses
to keep you in place during those mile runs. The suspension has
been given some attention in the form of ladder bar back half done
by Jimmy Vines out of Midland, Texas, a narrowed Chrysler 8 housing
with Moser 35-spline axles and Richmond 4.56 gears with strange
single adjust shock at all four corners along with 4-wheel disc
brakes. Up front is a set of 15x4 Billet Specialties Street Lite
wheels with Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires and in the rear is
15x15 wheels wrapped in sticky 31.5x18.5-15 Hoosier Quick time
tires. This '72 Duster is a "sit down & hang on" type build and is
most definitely NOT for the faint of heart!
