Rare V-code 442. #s matching motor, trans, rear, carb and colors.
Documented with original build sheet, It was born like you see it.
75,142 actual miles, same owner from the late 1980s until 2021.
Very nice, unabused condition. California built car. The V in the
vin number designates this is a 4-speed car and the motor is 20 hp
more than the standard 455. We don't know exactly how many were
made but it was hundreds, not thousands.
EXTERIOR: Very solid, straight car. I didn't find any problem
areas, no bubbles or rust. The panels fit real nice. Original
quarter panels. Repainted it's original Pewter Silver color. The
metal flake is laid out evenly and the clear coat is glossy. The
black W-29 stripes are nicely painted on. A rear spoiler, sport
mirrors and no vinyl top add to it's muscle appeal. The chrome and
trim is overall good. The rear bumper has the cutouts for the
exhaust which was on the 455 cars only. The 442 grills and the
taillights are excellent. Jambs are clean, weatherstrips were
replaced. Original glass, the windows are tinted. The SS wheels are
good original shape.
INTERIOR: Unabused. The dash area is not broken, cut or bear up. It
has the rallye gauge cluster and the famous tic toc tachometer. It
also has rare 4-speed console in great shape. The carpet is real
nice, it has a set of reproduction Oldsmobile mats. It also has
complete set of GM seatbelts. The seat upholstery is very nice,
headliner is tight, door panels are excellent. It also features a
sport wheel and rear defroster. $2,000 stereo was recently
installed.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Vin # matching original 455 motor. The V code
cars used a W-30 cam and heads. This engine was professionally
rebuilt locally by Powersource. It was magnafluxed and balanced. On
top it has a Pertronix ignition hidden under the stock cap, ultra
rare original Quadrejet carb unique to a 4-speed car and a dual
snorkel air cleaner correct for a V code. It was upgraded with a
set of headers which are covered in heat wrap.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is clean and complete. Solid metal with no
rust or patches. Neatly spatter painted. The silver is painted real
slick. It has working trunk light and power trunk release.
Excellent weatherstrip, decals and correct 2 piece mat. It also has
a 5th matching spare tire and wheel. Complete jack assembly and lug
wrench.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath this car looks to be very solid and proper.
It has the rallye suspension which includes swaybars and boxed rear
control arms. The front end components are clean, look like they
were rebuilt/replaced. In back the bushings, springs and shocks
look very recent. It has a dual exhaust with crossover pipe,
Flowmaster mufflers and the correct trumpet tips. The brakes were
the originals which helps verify the low miles. They have been
recently rebuilt. The e-brake is hooked up. Looking up at the motor
it is clean, It has a new high torque starer.Vin # matching M-20
Muncie 4-speed.New Hurst Competition Plus shift linkage and clutch
linkage parts. It was a 3.23, now upgraded with a 3.73 posi. It
also has an aluminum W-27 cover.
This is a genuine investment GM muscle car. Rare, authentic and
desirable!
