Description

1971 Plymouth Road Runner in Volo, Illinois1

Concourse rotisserie restoration! From the correct finishes and

dated plug wires to duplicated stencil markings on the chassis, it

is just as it was coming off the assembly line. #s matching

throughout and factory colors. The features match the fender tag

including a rare Dictaphone cassette player/recorder and air

grabber system. Previously part of the famous Wellborn

  Collection.

EXTERIOR: I'll admit the fit and finish is actually better than

when it was at the factory! The body gaps are as tight as a

Mercedes, doors open and close like a new car. I found zero rust,

bubbles, cracks, or damage. Every inch is laser straight. Repainted

its original Rallye Red color and it is polished like glass. The

matte finish hood patch is in excellent shape too. In the middle of

the hood a vacuum operated door opens to force fresh air into the

motor. It is also optioned out with hood pics and, fender mounted

turn signals, chrome racing mirrors and a canopy top. The bumpers

have show chrome; the stainless trim is straight and polished. The

glass is crystal clear, weatherstrips were replaced. It's rolling

on a set of restored rallye wheels wearing reproduction Polyglass

  tires.

INTERIOR: Pristine from carpet to headliner. All the finishes are

like new, and the fit is excellent. No wrinkles, the dash area is

mint from the knobs to the dash pad. Steering wheel, seatbelts,

console are all mint. Original radio is in the dash, and it has an

original Dictaphone cassette player/recorder below the dash. It

even includes a microphone for recording notes. This is a factory

Chrysler option that is on the fender tag.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Detailed to factory specs right down to dated

reproduction plug wires. VIN # matching 383-300 hp motor with a

complete and functional N96 Air Grabber. Correct manifolds, air

cleaner, valve covers, pulleys etc. Correct Mopar radiator,

reproduction clamps and hoses. It's complete from the restored Road

Runner horn to the windshield squirters. Detailed in the proper

finishes, the orange overspray on the battery cable is actually

correct! The VIN on the core support matches the car and the fender

tag is attached. It features power steering and brakes.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: You will go straight back to 1971 when you open

this trunk. All the metal is spotless and painted a gloss red. It

has new weatherstrip, mat, decal etc. Complete jack and spare

assembly. It has a matching reproduction polyglass tire on a

restored rim, the jack is like new.

UNDERSIDE: It was flipped on a rotisserie and concourse restored

down to assembly line markings. Pristine metal is painted correctly

in gray primer with the proper red overspray from the body. Every

single item is restored and detailed. Rebuilt suspension and

steering. Restored brake system with disc in front. Fuel system was

restored. Correct dual exhaust system with optional tips that look

like they are off a gun barrel. Looking up at the motor it looks

like new. The matching #s are stamped on the pad above the oil pan,

casting codes and dates are correct. VIN # matching 727 Torqueflite

automatic. Correct 8 3/4 rear end with 3.23 gears.

SERVICE: We inspected the car and repaired the reverse light, turn

signals, window crank, horn, and speedometer.

If you found a red #s matching Road Runner with these options and

somehow talked the owner into giving it to you free, it would still

cost more to restore than what I'm asking! A concourse restoration

is far more time consuming than just a show quality restoration.

There's much more researching. This beautiful car is as nice as

  they get!
