STK 3 Plymouth GTX
No one would argue the fact that the Plymouth 'Super Bird' is a
rare MOPAR. However, this 1971 Plymouth GTX is also a very rare
bird. Muscle cars were at their peak in the early 70's and the
Plymouth GTX was one of Chrysler's strongest. Based on the
redesigned 'B body' platform and fitted with a powerful big-block
drivetrain, the Plymouth GTX was a perfect example of MOPAR muscle.
This 1971 Plymouth GTX was the beneficiary of a thorough
restoration (2005). The exterior was carefully prepped and
resprayed in Chrysler Hemi-Orange and accents include a black vinyl
top and virtually new Cragar 15" chrome wheels that mount
BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. A nicely restored bucket seat black
vinyl interior is in every good condition. There is a console
w/shifter, nice dash/door cards/carpeting, full analogue gauges and
an AutoMeter tachometer. Window glass is tinted and the factory AM
radio has been replaced with an AM/FM/Cassette sound system.
Horsepower is provided by what is said to be a numbers matching
440ci 'Wedge" that was completely rebuilt. It is equipped with an
Edelbrock high-rise aluminum intake, Holley dual-feed 4V carb, mild
performance cam, MSD ignition and tube headers. Factory gross
output of the stock 440 was 370bhp/480 lb/ft of torque, and this
one is sounds to have a lot more. It is backed by a Chrysler
3-speed automatic transmission (likely a 727 Torqueflite),
performance convertor and MOPAR 8-3/4" Suretrac differential. The
chassis is fitted with power steering, power disc/drum brakes and
front torsion-bar/rear leaf spring suspension. This is a rare
MOPAR. Study the photos - this Plymouth GTX is impressive. ALL
