1968 Pontiac GTO Muscle Car Why This Car Is Special This is a true
242 VIN Code 1968 GTO Convertible we have here at Skyway Classics,
it has a YS 400 cubic inch 350 horse modified engine. It is a rare
GTO because only 9,980 convertible GTO's were produced in 1968 out
of 87,684 total production. General Motors redesigned it's a-body
for 1968, with a unique feature that was the body-color Endura
front bumper. It was designed to absorb impact without permanent
deformation at low speeds. Pontiac touted this feature heavily in
advertising, showing hammering at the bumper to no discernible
effect. Our GTO Convertible is loaded with options such as the
Enduro Bumper, Hideaway headlights, Power steering, Wilwood disc
brakes, Hurst His/Hers Dual Gate automatic shifter, Hood
tachometer, custom polished mag wheels, and a black convertible
top. Features 1968 GTO YS 400 cubic inch 350 horse modified engine

engine is a YS 400 cubic inch which was rated at 350 horse from the
factory but has been modified and has a polished finned air
cleaner, Edelbrock polished finned matching valve covers, aluminum
intake, Holley carb, headers and dual exhaust, and sits in the
complete and detailed engine compartment. Hot Rod tested a 1968 GTO
equipped with the standard engine and obtained a quarter mile
reading of 14.7 seconds at 97 mph in pure stock form. Best of all,
you have complete control over this V8 thanks to the Hurst His/Hers
Dual Gate automatic shifted automatic transmission and 10-bolt rear
end, power steering, Wilwood disk brakes, and even air
conditioning. Interior Our GTO has a black later model GTO
emblazoned twin front bucket seats with a black rear seat and door
panels, interior that has all the right vintage details like the
wood-like paneling on the dash, factory radio, factory and
accessory gauges, three-spoke wood Pontiac steering wheel, air
conditioning, Hurst shifter, center console, and black carpeting
with blue GTO floor mats. Exterior The GTO is the father of the
muscle car, and nothing showcases a muscle car better than a bold
paint job like the blue GTO we have. It has the Endura front bumper
(exclusive to real-deal GTOs in '68), Hide-Away Headlights, Hood
Tac, Dual Mirrors, and rides on custom chrome 5-spoke polished
aftermarket mag wheels and black sidewall tires with great sounds
coming out the dual chrome tips. Pontiac abandoned the familiar
vertically stacked headlights in favor of a horizontal layout, but
made hidden headlights available at extra cost which ours has. The
concealed headlights were a popular option. The signature hood
scoop was replaced by dual scoops on either side of a prominent
hood bulge extending rearward from the protruding nose. Conclusion

Convertible we have at Skyway Classics. It looks, runs, and drives
fantastic. The 1968 GTO won the Motor Trend Car of the Year Award
