The Mercedes-Benz W113 Roadsters, designed by Paul Bracq, were produced from 1963 through to 1971 and were known as the 'pagoda roof' SL. All models boast an inline six-cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. Rear wheel drive configuration was complemented by independent rear suspension, a feature that greatly improved road handling. The 230 SL made a remarkable debut at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show in March 1963 where the famous German engineer Fritz Nallinger introduced it as follows "It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance which, despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of travelling comfort."First registered on 1st March 1965 this beautifully presented 230 SL Pagoda has been privately owned by our vendor for over a decade in which time considerable sums have been spent on both maintenance and restoration. Originally restored and repainted in 1997 the bodywork is in very good order and looks everything like the 60s icon it should. More recently the car had a full re-trim and new woodwork so the interior matched the exterior for quality which was finished in biscuit leather.
