Completed September 8, 1960
Originally delivered by Porsche Car Pacific in San Francisco,
California to the first owner Frank Cox from Portland Oregon.
Original delivered in Signal Red with a Black interior and a
Super-90 motor which was the highest horsepower push-rod, producing
90 HP. Currently, finished in a period-correct, special order color
Royal Blue (6012) with a black leatherette interior.
European Collectibles did a beautiful cosmetic and mechanical
restoration on this 1961 Porsche 356B Super-90 Coupe. During the
restoration, this 356 was completely disassembled so that every
aspect could be properly addressed. All panels are matching and
were pre-fit with bumpers, to ensure the best result. The cosmetic
restoration included paint, the chrome was triple-plated, new deco
bumper trim, rubber seals, a German interior was installed, and the
components were restored or replaced. The driveline was also
rebuilt including the engine top-end, transmission, suspension,
braking system, and fuel system. The undercarriage is solid and
rust free and has been stripped to steel, and fully detailed,
including the suspension componets, engine, and transmission.
The Royal Blue exterior paint is in beautiful condition,
complemented by silver steel rims, chrome Super hubcaps with
Porsche crests, and mounted to Vredestein Sprint Classic 165 HR 15
tires. The interior features black leatherette, black VDM steering
wheel with Porsche horn button, detailed VDO instrumentation
including a dash-mounted clock, Custom Sound Bluetooth handsfree
stereo, dome lights, chrome trim, two-point lap belts and black
floor mats.
Mechanically this is an amazing 356 to drive with a matching
1.6-liter Super 90 flat-four engine (Type 616/7) that performs
flawlessly with plenty of power producing 90 HP at 5500 RPM, and
has 89 lb.ft. of torque at 4300 RPM. European Collectibles has done
the following work including a top-end engine rebuild with new
pistons and cylinders, rebuild cylinder heads with new valves and
guides, new push rods, and a gasket set. The manual 4-speed
transmission (Type 741) has been rebuilt with new synchromesh,
bearing and gaskets and shifts through all the gears with ease. The
four-wheel drum brakes have been rebuilt, including the wheel
cylinders, brake lines, brakes shoes and master cylinder. Recently
serviced with fresh oil, oil filter, fuel filter, adjusted the
carburetors, and the engine has been tuned. Truly a pleasure to
drive with plenty of power, smooth shifting transmission and a
rebuilt braking system! Its top speed is 110+ MPH.
