A particularly sharp, smart example, very nicely finished in black and deep blue to a very high standard, with truly lovely blue leather interior, complemented by excellent carpets, headlining, a properly working sunroof and tasteful satin finished woodwork. In excess of £120,000 has been invested in the car since 2005, and the finished result bears testament to the quality of the work, which is all documented in the history file. We have detailed invoices for repair and maintenance work covering the period 1951 to 2020, which includes major mechanical and cosmetic work by various well-respected specialists in recent times, which will be of great benefit to the new owner at a cost far less than that of the work done! Fitted with flashing indicators for safety in modern traffic, but also retaining the original trafficators on the same switch. The underside is nice and clean and the car is fitted with a stainless-steel exhaust system. Examples of the paperwork can be seen on the 'More Photos' page, but there are many more included. We also have a buff logbook from the early post-war period. An excellent, attractive car, in a very appealing colour scheme, running and driving very nicely and offered newly MoT tested. Excellent value for money, don't miss it!

Snippets: Army, Navy & Research Major Sir John Prestige (1884/1961) was a grandson of John Prestige who in 1842, alongside Josiah Stone & George Preston co-founded the marine, railway & general engineering firm of J Stone & Co of London. One of their many patents included an invention to improve engine lubrication and in 1898 the firm supplied the electrical lighting for the Barry Railway. In 1903 they introduced hydraulically operated watertight bulkhead doors for ships and by the 1930s J. Stone had acquired an interest in Alkaline Batteries which in turn had an interest in the firm of Peto & Radford which Sir John Prestige was a director of. During WWI he served with the Army (20th Batt. London Regiment) and was twice mentioned in dispatches for his services. In 1930 Sir John took part in the London to Brighton run in his 1904 12hp which the Birmingham Daily Gazette described as a "Methuselahs" and in an event in 1933 Sir John drove his 1901 Panhard! After WWII B195Dk was bought by Kennedy Stewart (1883/1964) of Belfast whose family firm of coastal fleet importing primarily coal into Northern Ireland operated from 1840 to 1964. Kennedy was MD of John Kelly Ltd from 1938 to 1951 & also found time to serve in the Senate of N.I. from 1945 to 1955 for the Ulster Unionist Party. The 3rd owner of B195DK was Captain A. Petro (1892/1962) whose family name had been altered by deed-poll in 1901 by his father Ionnis Themistocles Petrocochino. The Petrocochino family were one of the first to own a motor car in Manchester and research reveals that they were so wary of this technology that they sat in a cart which was towed by the car! During WWI Capt. Petro served with Royal Field Artillery and was stationed in France from 1914/17 and later in the War Office. In 1949 B195DK was with Dr Charles Hedley Godfrey Price of Bristol who in 1975 was awarded £4,291 to enable him to continue his research into bone cancer. In the 1950s & 60s B195DK passed through the hands of Commander George Okeover Anson (1880/1977) and Commander Reginald Alfred Phillips Mountifield (1912/2002).

About Us:
The Real Car Company was established in 1987 by Ray Arnold & Ian Johnstone. It was a hobby that 'Got out of hand'. Our interest in cars of the type that we now sell goes back to our childhoods, and ownership back to the 1970's. Gradually more cars started passing through our hands, and by 1986 we had decided to make a full time occupation of buying and selling the cars that we love.
We started with a single car (all we could afford) which we sold quickly, and before we knew it we had 4 or 5 on our hands! This was alongside another business that we were involved in at the time. In the Spring of 1988 we gave up the other business, (exhaust systems), rented part of the premises that we still operate from now, and went full time.
We had a good start in the boom years of the late eighties, which set us up well enough for us to ride the storm of recession in the years that followed. As the years went on the number of cars going through our hands increased gradually, we built up a workforce, and we now carry a stock of around 40 to 50 vehicles and there are nine of us here. In 1999 we were awarded 'International Classic Car Dealer of the Year' by Classic Cars Magazine. The market for 'our' kind of cars is nicely stable, generally prices are creeping upwards all the time, and we feel that investing in a car - or cars - of the type that we sell is generally a great place to put your money. Don't do it just for investment, but you can get a great deal of pleasure from these vehicles, prices are - in our opinion - unlikely to drop, and you can't drive a share certificate! Some prices in the last three or four years have moved up considerably, and these cases have shown a tremendous return on investment.
Over the last fifteen years or so we have brought home several hundred cars from the USA, and we are always looking for more. If you know of a Rolls-Royce or Bentley anywhere in the world, in absolutely any condition, please let us know. Distance no object, commissions happily paid. We always particularly enjoy the 'barn finds'.
