Wow what a showstopper. Recently acquired here is this 1935 Classic Austin Ascot 12/6 historic car. First may I start by saying we are by no means a classic car specialist but do have over 30 years experience in the motor trade so I will do my best with an accurate description for something slightly out of our comfort zone. As far as I can see for a 88 year old motor vehicle, inside outside and underneath looks to be in fantastic condition and was last owned and dry stored for over 10 years when it was purchased from Castle Combe Classic Car auction. The paintwork is in great condition with a minimal amount of patina, perfectly in keeping with the style of vehicle. Whilst on our car transporter during collection we had an inspection and took some photographs underneath and everything looks to be too good to be true. This is probably due to a full body off restoration going back a few decades ago which amongst the vast portfolio of paperwork there are photographs of the work carried out. There is also mountains of original parts, memorabilia and many heart warming photos from the past where it has been used from time to time for weddings and even been exhibited in museums.
The interior is also in fantastic condition. The woodwork surrounding the dashboard and doors is great and doesn’t require any attention. The front seats were re-trimmed a couple of years ago and barely been used since at a cost of over £1000.
The paperwork and memorabilia is a credit to the previous owner and most certainly adds to the value of this fantastic package. Everything is stored in an age related briefcase and the paperwork is quite phenomenal as you can see in the pictures. There are photographs, newspaper articles, original tax discs, MOTs, old fashioned buff style log books, mountains of history for work and servicing carried out over the years, owners club information. You name it, its probably there!
Mechanically around two years ago its use became less and less due to the last owners health deteriorating although it has been kept dry stored in a clean tidy double garage and ventilated by the double door being left open at least once a week.
Once we got it back to our premises we have charged the battery and had it running off of a feed bottle directly to the carb and it sounds very healthy.
Obviously the vehicle is tax and MOT exempt although you can clearly see that it has been maintained to a high standard.
The vehicle will require some minor recommissioning / tinkering prior to its next maiden road voyage so will require transporting away from the premises although it can be seen running in our showroom. We can deliver on our car transporter at an additional cost once the vehicle has been viewed and a sale price has been agreed or you are more than welcome to organise your own transport.
There are more pictures than the initial 12 in the gallery further down the page. Please scroll down to see more and we have a video of it running which can be sent directly to you via whatsapp. Please call for details.
Any trial or inspection is welcome and encouraged prior to purchase as we are a trade outlet. This is a very honest description of a trade part exchange to clear. All vehicles are test driven for a minimum 3 miles and any known faults declared. To arrange a viewing please do not hesitate to contact me on [Phone number removed]or 01454 279240.
Due to receiving a high volume of emails generated from many websites it is advisable to call rather than email and not all vehicles are kept on site so a viewing slot must be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.
