Somewhat rare and hard to find, this commemorative stein from the 1974 FIFA Football World Cup is among Marzi and Remy's best works. Lustrous cobalt glaze contrasts beautifully with the blue-white sculpted areas. 'Fussball Welt Meisterschaft' is written on the left and right sides of the central display, which translates to Football World Cup. 'FIFA World Cup' and '1974' are displayed just below the central design. Left of the handle is a soccer (football) player taking aim on the pitch, and to the right of the handle is a depiction of the soccer (football) stadium. Stein is 7 inches tall, has a 3 and 1/2 inch base and a 3 inch mouth. Lid is labeled with a round sticker, which reads: Echter Zinndeckel Etain Veritable Pewter Lid Marzi und Remy Hohr-Grenzhausen. The top of the lid bears the imprint of '1974,' a soccer ball and 'WM' (for Welt Meisterschaft). Bottom of stein bears the Marzi & Remy hallmark. Stein is in very good to excellent condition. May have a 3 mm manufacturer's defect (see pictures). Not very noticeable since it is so small and towards the bottom, but want you to be aware. Truly a classic and a conversation piece! Add this to your Oktoberfest celebration, man cave or display -- a great addition to any collection!
