The kids college funds are low so Ive decided to part with my pet project and favorite souvenir from my years overseas.This is your chance to own a piece of history, a very rare WWII Indian Model 741 Scout motorcycle. This Scout is equipped with a 30 cubic inch GDA V-twin engine. Not being into olive drab I chose to have the bike restored in civilian chrome and Indian-red paint, the late 30s Scout look is amazing! The bike runs and runs well. The bike is fully titled in Virginia.I brought this bike back to the US in 2009. This motorcycle was manufactured in Indians Springfield, MA plant during the early war years and was sent like many to be used by the British in India during the Second World War. It was inherited by the Indian government after the British left. I worked hand-in-hand with an amazing restorer and used all top-quality engine parts from Starklite and Wilson Plank of American Indian Specialists of Fullerton, CA. Upon returning stateside I had all the restoration work checked-out and the last of the remaining mechanical restoration done by Indian expert Robyn Markey of Bobs Indian, Etters, Pennsylvania. It has been a lot of fun learning to ride the old-school bike with its suicide hand-shift, rocker foot-clutch, left-hand throttle, with manual timing adjust on the right-hand. I was surprised by how quickly I was able to master it all, it was a blast. I just finished restoring the electrical system. I used a period reproduction wiring harness and have all the military black-out lighting in full working order. Antique motorcycle maintenance may not be for the faint of heart but I do have a full complement of hard to find manuals and documentation that make routine maintenance do-able for any backyard mechanic type.Buyer is to make arrangements and pay shipping if unable to pick up in person.
