My story
Zigaboo is one special boy!
He is actually a Central Asian Shepherd, a Livestock Guardian Dog breed.
We know that sometimes descriptions say a dog is a unique, exotic, little known breed when it turns out the dog is a magical mix.
This time it is actually true.
We hadn't heard of this breed before but our research definitely supports the claim.Zig is an extra-large 10 months old puppy.
This sweet, big boy could grow to be as big as 150 lbs.
He is super playful and gets along with playful dogs of all different sizes.
One of his favorite playmates in his foster home is a 30 lb Boston Terrier mix who can outrun this long legged giraffe of a dog.
Zigaboo's play style is best suited to easy-going, athletic, tolerant dogs.
His extra-large mouth and drool volume His favorite things are TREATS & MEALS! He also loves to follow his person around although that person best be ready to get a bit wet.
Like so many "wet mouth" Livestock Guardian Dogs. Ziggy is a DROOLER!
He is learning manners now that he probably didn't learn early in life.
Ziggy is learning that no one appreciates when he grabs at shorts so his person won't go indoors without him.
He is also learning to take treats gently but still dives into his food bowl like he hasn't eaten in days. When he first arrived at his foster home, Zig was afraid to go through doors and come inside.
He is now crate-trained to a huge Great Dane-sized crate and is very relaxed in there for meals & overnight.
He loves being outside but is a bit excitable and like so many LGD types, will bark at anything that concern him.
That could be the dog in the adjacent yard or the horses in the nature next door.
He needs to learn to regulate that urge & shouldn't be left outside in a situation where he would drive the neighbors crazy.Zigaboo is up to date on his vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped.
Please contact us for more information on Zigaboo and to request an adoption application. We are a very small, all-volunteer rescue group so please be patient when awaiting a reply.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Zigaboo!!, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
