I have an old wonderful White Rotary sewing my grandmother gave me in 1987. I have used it frequently since then and it has worked great. The problem I have is that I want/have to do more detailed work, particularly hemming operations (i have a 5 and 7 year old boy that seem to be growing too fast) This machine is not good for hemming, or at least I am not skilled enough to do a good job with it. So if you have a newer machine laying around with that removable piece that you can slip a pant leg or shirt-cuff over for hemming, and you want to own an awesome heavy-duty working piece of history let me know and I'll trade you straight across, i will even deliver/pickup.
