The body consists of a Bubinga, from Equatorial Africa, oiled wood finish with an Ovangkol neck and a Wenge fretboard. The Corvette Standard has two passive MEC pickups with a volume control (top), pickup pan control with detent (middle), and a tone control (bottom). Dialing up a variety of tones is really easy. Even at low volumes these pickups stay vibrant and juicy. And the controls are well positioned for easy and quick adjustments. These passive pickups (versus active) are much more responsive than one might think. Passive pickups can provide an amazingly wide range of sounds, from subtle string bass slurs to gut-rattling cannon blasts. It's all in there.
