Veteran's story

　　Poor Veteran really needs out of the shelter! Although he's smiling big for the camera here, this guy is definitely tired of shelter life after over a month. While his stay isn't as long as some other dogs, certain dogs just don't handle the shelter well, and Veteran is one of them. :-(

　　Veteran seems anxious and it's hard for him to settle and focus. This will make it hard for him to catch the eye of an adopter, as many are looking for that immediate connection with a dog. Veteran's demeanor is not uncommon in the shelter environment; the constant stimulation really gets to some dogs. He actually reminds me of another dog from last summer who acted this same way. I just got an update on that dog and he is doing great and has tons of personality and affection for his forever family. I want Veteran to have that same chance to shine in a home! But first, he needs a quiet place he can relax and decompress from shelter life.

　　Right now Veteran enjoys walks, sniffing around the yard, playing chase the thrown treat, and chewing on peanut butter Kongs! Won't you consider making him a part of your family and helping Veteran discover new joys in life? He coexisted in the yard with other dogs, so if you have a dog at home, bring your dog in for an intro (always recommended).

　　You can visit 6 yr old Veteran at the MCAC West shelter at 2500 S. 27th Ave., Phx. Hours are 11-6 Mon-Fri and 11-5 Sat & Sun. Veteran's $25 adoption fee includes neuter, rabies certificate and County license.
