Twiggy is a super shy 6yo and 5.5lb dainty chihuahua girl who needs someone who can reward every little bit of courage and bring her confidence up. Twiggy led a very sheltered life without a lot of care, so everything has been scary. She feels safest in her crate where she can hunker down in her pillows while figuring out the lay of the land. Her ideal new home will be a quiet place with a predictable schedule, a small crate with a cuddly bed, and a soft harness for walks. She will travel quietly in a crate in the car. Because she is so fragile and timid, we feel she would be best in an adult home without kids, and with people who will always check for her sleeping under the afghan on the couch before sitting down.
Twiggy is good with dog-savvy cats, and would be good with another small dog or cat who isn't too pushy and who would share a warm bed in the sunshine. She recently had a dental and lost several teeth, so that tongue that peeps out is going to be a signature look for her and soft food is her preference.
Want a little dog who needs your whole heart and the warmest spot in the house? Twiggy is up-to-date on shots, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250 which helps the rescue cover medical expenses and supplies. Please fill out an adoption application today at to meet sweet Twiggy.
All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog.
We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience. To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information.
All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog.
Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home.
