Ray's story

　　Ray is doing wonderful and is finishing his recovery after FHO surgery. He needs a HOME for the holidays!

　　Ray is a large 1.5 year old, 54 pound neutered male. He was transferred to us from a partner shelter who could not afford to mix his congenital (born with it) hip condition. We believe he is a lab mix. He is currently in foster care and lives with a dog, and a 12 year old human. He does well with the dog and great with the kid! Toddlers confuse Ray so he is looking for a home with older children and he is reported to be too curious about chickens and cats. He is a sweet dog, and people fall absolutely in love when they meet him. Ray is house trained and does not have potty accidents in a home. He needs good canine toys, bones and Kongs as well as a playmate and exercise to keep him from chewing in the house (keep those shoes in the closed closet (: ) He is very gentle and loving with his people and he is learning to do well on a leash. His foster family reports that he is very affectionate and very family-oriented, but that he can tolerate being alone. He will need an owner who understands that he is a large dog who will make a wonderful lifelong companion, but will be at his best with a basic obedience course. Ray will benefit from fish oil and glucosamine/chondrotin supplements to help his hips age as well as possible throughout life.
