Phoebe-ADOPTION PENDING Cairn Terrier Baby - Adoption,...
Apr 22, 2025
Description

When Phoebe's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal New Mexico shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Phoebe tucked tightly into a cage...her time at the shelter was up.

The rescuer placed a call to Farfel's immediately describing how incredibly cute and sweet this special Terrier baby is..and the need to save her life. We immediately agreed and Phoebe became a very treasured Farfel's dog. She earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with her cuteness, great personality and positive attitude toward the world.

At just about 4 - 5 months old and a tiny 4 lbs (estimated to be approximately 7 lbs when full-grown), this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog she's capable of being.

We'd love to match Phoebe to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable girl. She's a perfect size to accompany her family just about anywhere...and would love it.

Positive reinforcement group obedience classes will not only provide socialization...but will cement the relationship between Phoebe and her family. After learning commands and skills of great behavior at her classes, Phoebe's self esteem will soar...a dog that is comfortable in her skin and feels safe is a pleasure to take out and about. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area.

Phoebe gets lots of attention when she's out with her foster...she's very engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. She's also extremely eye-catching. Phoebe appears to be a Cairn Terrier/Yorkshire Terrier mix but we would never swear to it. We just see a beautiful puppy that will make a sweet and loving addition to a very loving home.

When Phoebe turns that gentle look in your direction, you can't help but smile at her cuteness and the wisdom (far beyond her years) in her gorgeous dark eyes. You can see just a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for her to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Phoebe's style. It's clear that she has left her pain behind...with a jump up into her favorite person's lap, Phoebe couldn't be happier or more cuddly.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family (or with older, dog-crazy kids) for Phoebe. It's not that she doesn't like young kids...we just feel she wouldn't be comfortable with any tail-pulling or awkward carrying. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this girl. She would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets.

Phoebe, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes her very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Phoebe would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're tiny, even a very well-adjusted puppy can be intimidated by larger, rambunctious dogs

Phoebe will be up to date on her vetting. We're hoping that she will be spayed when she arrives from New Mexico, however there are far too many dogs and not enough vets in this impoverished area of New Mexico. If she isn't fixed, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Phoebe to be spayed/microchipped at our Denver vet to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Phoebe will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/7/18. If interested in this sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Phoebe, please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
