My story
Last month, our founder was on OfferUp and saw what no rescuer ever wants to see. A sick kitten posted for free to whoever wants him. It was clear from the picture there was something wrong with his eye, but we couldn’t tell exactly what it was but we knew we had to save him.
Within the hour, our foster coordinator/cat expert rushed to his aid. His poor eye was crusted shut, not to mention the fleas crawling all over him, so we immediately brought him to the ER.
Opi was born in an accidental litter (we were informed that the mama has allegedly since been spayed, as that was our next mission) and the family said last week one of the other cats in the house scratched his eye. Although our vet wasn't sure how true that is, there was definitely trauma to the eye. They said no shelters would take him in and they couldn’t afford a vet, so they let him suffer for a week (if not more). He was less than 2lbs when we got him!
Since his eye was in such bad shape, we were worried he would need surgery right away but the vet couldn’t even see through the inflamed tissue to determine how bad the trauma is.
After two weeks Opi's eye made a FULL RECOVERY! He is putting on weight daily and is a ball of love. He loves to make biscuits on you, he purrs so loud you would think he weighed 20lbs! He loves to play with all of his siblings and really wants to share all your meals with you. It's hard to say no because he is SO CUTE! Opi is neutered, vaccinated, and ready to be adopted!
