Oliver-ADOPTION PENDING Lhasa Apso Young - Adoption, Rescue
Apr 22, 2025
Description

It got scarily close to Oliver's time to be banished from his home and relinquished to a scary New Mexico shelter. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it was all a matter of inconvenience and too many unfixed dogs in a home.

After a scramble by our very compassionate rescuer (she has a soft spot for a really cute fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Oliver was pulled out of the shelter during processing (at the last second possible). His rescuer and Oliver's foster haven't stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since.

Oliver is a cute as can be example of the fuzzy and irresistible Border Terrier and the scruffy Cairn Terrier.

  These mixes

are very popular for their smaller size and stunning, non-shedding (or very lightly shedding) coats...as well as the super Terrier intelligence of both breeds.

This photo of Oliver doesn't come close to showing the beauty of his coat and the over-the-top cuteness of his smile (he's not growling..he's just panning for the camera). In his foster home, this sweet guy is known for getting along with all the other dogs and loving to play with his foster mom's 8 year old twins. He's a fun and silly baby once he's comfortable in his home.

Oliver, at just about 18 months old and 13 lbs is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is such a perfect candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's a natural-born hiker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person on any trail. We envision Oliver with a family with very respectful, older kids who love dogs or active retirees who enjoy spending their time with a comical fuzzy guy.

We're searching for a family that either works part-time, works from home or is retired. Oliver will blossom in the company of a guardian who is very present..and loves to provide him with exercise, mental stimulation and group classes with a

positive reinforcement trainer. Oliver will be a star in these classes while bonding with his family and learning the skills to accompany his people everywhere a smaller, well-trained dog is welcome. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area.

Oliver would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this guy.

A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with gentle canines and their dog-loving families.

At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Oliver than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..he is unknown with cats.

Oliver can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home. He is initially shy..but give this guy a bit of space and before you know it, he'll be loving you up. He is a happy guy once comfortable whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. His New Mexico foster is working with Oliver on his confidence (as he bonds, he's definitely blossoming), leash skills and he's being taught his basic house skills. His rescuer has described him as a lovebug and a sweetpea...can we possibly say more? They did say that Oliver may need a bit of time after his very long transport to Colorado to be his happy and very loving self.

Oliver is in desperate need of a sudsy bath and a great brushing. he will emerge with an amazing coat that will highlight the gorgeous chestnut coloring and softness that speak of his breed. Oliver will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his lovely coat healthy and matt-free.

Oliver is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he will be fixed when he arrives from NM, however there are very few vets in this industrial area of New Mexico. If he isn't fixed, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Oliver to be neutered and microchipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Oliver is arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/7/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this sweet and fun-loving best friend, please fill out and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Oliver, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
