  My story

There’s nothing more comforting than some good ole Mac!Hi there, folks! My name is Mac and I’m the cuddliest, kindest fella. I’m a Mastiff/Boxer mix at 8-years-old and 75-pounds. But don’t you worry, I’m just a gentle giant! I’m already neutered and I’m a strong, healthy boy. My journey to The Animal Pad is a bit of a heartbreaker. I was left by my last family in my old home. The landlord took care of me as long as they could but knew I was destined for a new life and family.During that time, I developed some pretty serious anxiety. I was adopted, but my new family didn’t know how to help me cope with my stress. Fortunately, I was placed in a fantastic foster home, where I’ve made amazing progress! I have anxiety medication if needed, but on a day-to-day basis, I’m doing fine without it. My foster likes to give me “rescue remedy” drops on few sardines, which I’ll gladly scarf down! Even though my journey has been ruff one, I’ve always been a family man and can’t wait to find my new hoomans.I'm a friendly guy who loves calm, caring environments. I adore my people and getting plenty of pets from them! I like older kiddos too, as long as they aren’t too rambunctious. When I pass other dogs or cats on my walk I don’t bother them at all! I never show signs of aggression and mostly keep to myself. I’m pretty low-energy, but I get excited about my daily walks! Afterward, I’ll gladly take a snooze and keep you company while you go about your day. Even though I enjoy getting out, there’s nothing that gets my tail waggin’ like some cuddles! I’ll gently nudge you with my nose or paw to let you know I’m ready for some pets and scratches. I’m a snuggle bug and who just wants to show you how much I love you!I’m a polite pooch, so I’m always on my best behavior in the house. I’m bathroom trained, so you don’t have to worry about coming home to any surprises! I will sleep in the crate with the door open, but closing the door triggers my anxiety. I do well on the leash and walk best with a harness. When I first came to my foster, I would freeze, shake, and put my tail between my legs if a car went past, but that rarely happens anymore. I’m making great strides and can’t wait to keep learning with you!If you’re looking for a loyal lad, look no further! I’m more comforting than a nice big bowl of homemade Mac-- I pawmise! I’d do well in a furever home where the hoomans are around fairly often. I’m a sucker for snuggles and crave your affection. I need patient, understanding people who can help me continue to progress and manage my anxiety. My heart’s been broken before, but I’m hopeful for a bright future with my furever fam. I deserve a loving home and I’ll give you my whole heart in return! My adoption fee is $150 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/  ##824034##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mac, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
