Little Angle Valentines Day Card (#E8) $14
This is an adorable and scarce Valentines Day Card dating back to the early 1900s found in an attic of an old farm house in Illinois. The card has a little angle holding a honeycombed share heart surrounded by flowers. It was designed to pop-out and set-up, giving the card a 3-dimensional effect. The card reads, For my Valentine.
The signature on the back of the card shows it was sent to Mr. Shaw from Edmund Salmon, likely a former student. I dont have any facts on this individual, but the card was found in Mr. & Mrs. Shaws stack of cards. They were both school teachers in the early 1920s at Parker School House in Iroquois County, Illinois.
The card shows vintage wear but still in excellent condition. These historic cards normally sell for $20 to $25, but as you can see the price reflects its condition and the card would still make an excellent addition to any vintage Valentine Card collection or a great piece for scrap-booking or it would work well in paper artworks (decoupage).
