Klaus's story

　　Adoption fee on this dog is $300.

　　Klaus is a strikingly handsome, black and tan long-coat who came to us from a local shelter, and nothing is known of his background. He is approximately 14 months old and weighs just under 75 lbs.

　　Klaus is housebroken with use of a doggie door and he is learning house manners. He is living in a foster home with a 3yr old female German Shepherd and two middle aged male German Shepherds and gets along well with all of them, and he especially likes to engage in play with the young female. He has ignored the cat in the foster home, so he might be OK with other dog savvy cats as well. Small critters and small dogs are unknown.

　　Having another playful mentor dog in his home enables his foster mom to leave him unattended during the day, but if he gets bored he will sometimes get into things. He especially likes to drag things around as if he's trying to rearrange the house. He has not been destructive in his foster home so far, but he will need enforced, limited boundaries until he learns the house rules and grows out of the puppy stage.

　　Klaus is very affectionate and loves to follow his human around the house. He is still learning that it's not okay to play by using his mouth and he can sometimes get excited and jumps up, so a home without small children would be best. He walks nicely on leash, but when meeting other dogs he can sometimes becomes obnoxious with anticipation, so proper introductions are necessary. Although he is a large boy, he is still just a big puppy, so he will need continued training and socialization.
