My story
The sweet, snuggly survivorHi friends! My name is Kaya. I’m a 2.5-year-old, 35-pound, Bull Terrier mix. The fact that I’m here is a bit of a miracle. You might remember reading my heartbreaking story on The Animal Pad’s Instagram a few months back. After being badly hit by a car in Tijuana, I laid in the street for two days as traffic zoomed by and person after person passed. No one stopped and my injuries worsened. Fortunately, a local rescuer saved me and I was rushed to the states. The vet said it would be an uphill battle, but I kept on climbing. After multiple surgeries, including having a leg removed, I made it to the top! I’m now healthy enough to stand on my own three paws— I’m even spayed!Despite what life has thrown at me, I’m a sweetheart through and through. I’m the friendliest girl who adores all doggos and hoomans— especially kiddos! I’ve only had a few interactions with cats, but I like them too. I enjoy playing with other pooches, going on walks with my people, and kicking back & relaxing. I’m an all-star cuddler with the most mellow, loyal disposition.I’m a proper lady who is already bathroom, house, and leash trained. Talk about your dream dog! I’m very obedient and respond well to commands too. Due to my accident, sometimes I don’t feel like walking, but I’m usually happy to go on a couple 20-minute walks per day! Understandably, the trauma I’ve been through can also make me a bit anxious. Large crowds and loud sounds make me nervous, but I’m sure I’ll develop more confidence with time. I do fine when I’m left alone, but prefer to have my people and puppy pals around!Since I’m such an easy-going gal, I’d fit into a variety of loving, patient homes. I’d be okay being the star of the show, but I’d be happiest if there were kids or furry friends to keep me company! I need my daily exercise, but nothing too strenuous. If it wasn’t for my first rescuer in Tijuana, I wouldn’t be alive today. Now that I’ve been given a second chance at life, I’m looking for another rescuer that can be my furever family. Will that special person be you? I’ll keep my paws crossed! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.
