Irving's story

　　Introducing Irving! This sweet 9 year old Shih Tzu mix was surrendered to the shelter after his owner passed away. His former family had called him "nothing", which we thought was pretty silly because he is definitely quite something! We dropped the N-O-T-H and added the I-R-V and now we've got our IRVING! After a very successful neutering, dental and hernia surgery, this healthy guy is ready to find his forever home. Irving shares his foster home with both large and small dogs as well as dog savvy small children. He also reportedly lived with a cat in his previous home. He is very affectionate and loves to cuddle but can also be very skittish and comes across as timid and nervous in new situations. Upon arriving at his foster home, he had to learn how to use stairs and walk on hardwood floors. At first, this was quite traumatizing for him but now he's a pro with both! He does not seem accustomed to eating out of a dog bowl and prefers his food on the floor or a thin plate. Irving is quiet and calm but has spurts of energy where he will try to get you to play with him by hopping all over and nudging your hand. It's beyond adorable! Irving is a great little dog. He has definitely struggled with his transition from his home, to a shelter, to a foster home, but every single day we see more and more of his personality emerge and we are huge fans. With a little patience and lot of love, we know this guy will be someones very best friend. Irving is crate trained but is also fine left out on his own.
