Description

Independent Fabrication Ti Crown Jewel Road Bike in Candy Turquoise with Sterling Silver Headtube Badge, Chris King, Campy Record Grupo, Reynolds Fork and Wheelset, Richey Stem, Salsa Poco Handlebars, Speedplay Pedals, King Bottle CagesThis bike is a work of art and is as beautiful to look at as she is to ride. Needless to say, I love this bike. I am the only owner and she was built for me, I am 5'4" just to give you an idea. Obviously, if you buy her, you can swap out your own components to tweak the fit for you, just keep in mind that it was built for a small-ish woman, the top tube is 56 cm. As you can see from the pix, I have relocated to a region that is not conducive to road riding. This bike deserves to be ridden and I want someone to have the joy of riding her. If you have never ridden on a Titanium road frame and you enjoy a good climb or sprint, there is no better material. Ti is such a beautiful combination of supple and stiff, so you don't get a headache from riding over cracks and cobbles and can also hop out of the saddle and crush the gears without losing a watt to flex in the frame. Due to the size and build of this bike, she is incredibly light, so not only is she a dream for climbing and sprinting, she's also super easy to put on a bike rack, hang in your garage or otherwise handle. Maybe this a weird detail, but if you know what I mean, you know what I mean. After a few hours in the saddle and a few thousand feet of climbing, it's all I can do to get off the bike, I don't want to struggle with getting it on/in my vehicle or properly put away at home! A few years ago (I don't recall the exact date), I discovered a microfracture on the chain stay and sent it back to IF where they completely rebuilt her, they forgot the pin-stripes on the paint job at the transition to the bare Ti of the rear triangle, but that is probably only a detail I would notice. I am not sure they didn't just send me a new bike because they also changed the color and placement of their logo and some other shading details on the paint job. Since that time, I have added a few scuffs here and there because she has been much loved, but she cleans up great! What can I say about the Campy Record Grupo? I used to ride Shimano...until I rented a bike with a Campy grupo while traveling once and I have never looked back. Much like the decadence of a Ti road frame, shifting a Campy drivetrain is something you never have to think about, it just effortlessly drops into gear. Again, this grupo has some miles on it, it is not new, but this is quality equipment and has been well maintained. If you rode ride with any frequency and want to treat yourself to a luxury experience at a bargain price (I have well over 10Kinto this bike), please do yourself a favor and buy this bike. She is a joy to ride and I just can't get her out on the road like she deserves.
