　　This Royal Doulton plate is from the Mother and Child Series. The theme is Sayuri and Child. Sayuri is a feminine Japanese name meaning small lily. This plate was designed by one of the most recognized and collected artist: Edna Hibel. There were no certificates of authenticity issued with this item. There were 15,000 plates made. The production date is 1974. It is plate number two in a series of six limited edition plates. The collector plate measures 8" in diameter and has gold trim.

　　Artist Edna Hibel is known for her sentimental paintings of children. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1917. She was referred to by Ms. Lucy Baines Johnson, daughter of President Lyndon Johnson, as "The Heart and Conscience of America". Her work is displayed in museums and galleries throughout the world.
