Chihuahua - Chip - Small - Young - Male - Dog
Chip was originally a County dog up for adoption at the Metro Center. He had been there a couple of months and was doing fine when one day, a drunk and belligerent man came in to the center and picked him up and started rough-handling him. Chip was frightened and nipped the man in self-defense. A few weeks later, some older kids came in and scared him again, and again, he nipped. Sadly, County had to place him on the e-list because of this "biting" potential, even though it was all fear-based behavior. Luckily, a volunteer who knew him and knew he didn't deserve to die for protecting himself called one of the members of Lost Paws and explained the situation. We decided to meet him and see for ourselves what his temperament was like and just like she had told us, he was a total sweetheart! Since he's been in foster, and has been shown the love he deserves, he's been doing great! He is still cautious of new people, but after a few minutes, warms up quickly. He loves to cuddle, be by your side and play with with his foster brothers and sisters. He also has the cutest underbite in the world!! He would make a wonderful family pet for any household. Chip is crate-trained, house-trained, and is just starting to learn basic commands. He is neutered and current on vaccinations. He is good with other dogs and walks okay on a leash.
