My story

　　Captain Morgan is a seven year old German Shepard who acts more like a 2 year old. He`s got endless energy and always up for a game of fetch. As his foster family, we`re surprised he wasn`t adopted immediately. Unlike his namesake, Morgan is a gentle giant. He is friendly with adults and children, and is interested in playing with other dogs. Morgan is extremely well behaved and trained. He knows his basic commands. He`s crate trained. He doesn`t jump on someone, even when excited to see us return from school or work. We found he`s not food aggressive, though he will stare at you with those big brown eyes while you`re eating pizza or steak, just hoping you`ll offer him a bite. He does well on walks. He`ll pull on the leash a bit but listens with a gentle tug. Morgan loves to be around his human family. He does have separation anxiety. Morgan will whine when he finds himself alone or he can`t be near his human family. He`s always been crated when no one is in the home.Morgan requires lots of attention, exercise, and mental stimulation. He loves fetch and could play for hours. He will bring a toy or ball and drop it next to you to initiate play. He will shred soft toys and soccer balls like sheets of paper. He`d much rather bury bones than chew on them. He enjoys gnawing on tennis and squeaker balls. Morgan does have a stubborn streak and at times will pretend he didn`t hear you, like when you ask him to go inside his crate. With gentle nudges and positive reinforcement, Morgan does obey requests.

　　Morgan loves to follow the resident toy poodle around, and seems eager to play with other animals. He will not do well in home with cats that are not accustomed to dogs. Morgan is currently on Hill`s Science Diet, and is fed twice a day. In between, he gets ½ cup of pumpkin puree due to his sensitive stomach. He should not be fed table scraps and limited on amount of dog treats.Morgan is extremely friendly and docile, and would make a wonderful family dog, with or without children. He`s loyal and protective of his family. He would do well with a family or someone that is active. One that has ample time to spend with him- taking him for long walks, or to the park or room in backyard to play fetch. Because of his separation anxiety, Morgan would do better in a household that doesn`t leave him alone for 8-10 hours. Morgan is smart and affectionate. He responds to positive reinforcements.
