Callie's story
Meet Callie! We have to say she has been one of our best transitions we have had in a while. When Callie arrived with her daughter Calliope, they were both flea infested, missing hair on most of Callie's body (almost all is grown back) and acting aggressive towards all of us. We had to use extreme caution to handle and could only interact with safety tools for the 1st 4 days. On the 5th days we decided to move Callie into one of our offices to allow her to relax and attempt to trust. We still could not pet her, but she would allow a few of us to be in the same room. Now keep in mind, we do not know any previous history and she was terrified. With patience and determination, she slowly began to trust us. Within days she was very attached to 2 staff members, allowing them to give her baths and more. She has recently went into foster with one of them who has 4 other dogs, 2 cats, children ranging from 1 year and up. She was fabulous! She learned to use the doggy door in less than 12 hours and did not have any accidents in the house. She did not attempt to get on the furniture, even though it was allowed. She would stay next to our staff member off leash and does not pull while on leash. We have no doubts that she would make a fabulous family pet as well as becoming protective over them. Callie is currently back in the shelter and waiting to meet her forever home! Stop by and ask to meet Callie Tuesday - Sunday 12p - 5 pm!
