Aly's story

　　Meet Aly, she is being relinquished by her owner to EAPL as they have decided they do not have the time available for a puppy/dog, and in no part due to Aly's demeanor or behavior. She is a Border Collie or Cattle dog mix and is about 8 months old (estimated bd 5/30/2018). Aly is a really special girl with lots of personality, spunk, and love. She makes fun of play time either with her humans or all by herself and is great at identifying what toys are acceptable for her to play with. She is making a nice transition out of her puppy phase and finds more time to lay down and relax throughout the day. She sleeps through the night and is happy to start every day with a bright cheery attitude. She will quickly enter her crate when instructed and does not show any signs of separation anxiety. She has also earned our trust by being free to roam the house for short periods of time while we are gone with no issues. While she will bark at someone walking down the street, she saves her barks for special occasions and is not very vocal. Aly loves to play outside in the snow and go for hikes. She has hiked over six miles easily and does great on the leash. When taken to the dog park and other dog's homes, Aly gives a quick sniff and then fits right in. Although she hasn't had a lot of time spent with her to learn new tricks, she has easily mastered the ones that she has tried like shake. She is a little hesitant to jump in the car, but once in, she spends car rides sitting next to the window and watching the world go by. We have never seen Aly around cats or kids but have no reason to think that she wouldn't fit right in with a family with kids. She is so sweet and playful and would LOVE someone to play tug of war or roll the ball around the house for her.
