The post holder will support the Strategic Weapon System (SWS) Requirements Lead in the management of SWS Requirements from the SWS Major System Design Authority (Trident Systems Project Team (TSPT as linked through the Ship Specification in Dynamic Object Orientated Requirements System (DOORS) to Dreadnought UK designed Platform Systems in order to integrate the SWS into the UK Platform design.

Duties:

As a member of the Trident Engineering function, the post holder shall undertake tasking to support the following:-

That the associated modules in DOORS modules remain updated with relevant changes to SWS Interface Requirements from SWS MSDA supplied updates to US SSP's Technical Objectives & Guidelines (TOG), UK TOG Implementation (T3100) and US SSP Co-ordination Documents by completion of Systems Engineering Change Requests and agreement with Deputy Chief Engineer Trident (Joint Design Authority & TSPT) as necessary.That links are maintained between SWS Requirements in TOG and COD modules in DOORS and level 2 and 3 Ship Specification Requirements placed on UK designed Platform Systems, as previously agreed with system Technical Leads, Assistant Chief Engineers and Systems Engineering iaw PI Eng 214 (Successor Integration Of SWS Design Requirements - now archived).Where US derived change to SWS requirements is identified iaw PI Eng 300 (SWS Requirements Change Management) as requiring change to UK Platform or UK Platform Systems designs, engage with the Dreadnought Change Management community via the Enterprise Change Request (ECR) process in PI PM 013 to ensure a full impact assessment is conducted.That Requirements Acceptance Forms for Ships Specification Verification Goals with linked SWS Requirement, distributed iaw PI Eng 358 (Dreadnought Functional Requirements Acceptance Process - Verification), are reviewed to ensure they provide explicit and unequivocal arguments supported by objective qualified evidence to substantiate verification compliance claims against SWS requirements.Engagement with Deputy Chief Engineer Trident (Joint Design Authority & TSPT) to provide an SWS MSDA approved audit trail of design verification evidence against linked SWS requirements iaw PI Eng 358.To support the development of an enduring Trident Engineering capability in BAES.Encourage and guide continuous improvement, challenging current practice where appropriate wrt SWS requirements and their integration into BAES business tools and processes for building an SSBN.Specific role training courses will be provided at internal/external facilities.

Knowledge:

An understanding of the duties, roles and responsibilities of personnel engaged with supporting the SWS MSDA with the integration of the SWS into the submarine platform and systems engineering management activities iaw the BAES Dreadnought Engineering Management Plan.An understanding of the SWS MSDA supplied requirement set (from US SSP TOG, UK TOG Implementation (T3100) & US SSP Co-ordination Documents) and how they impact on UK Platform Systems designs.Ability to contribute to the Trident Engineering/integration aspects of documentation reviews and design reviews.Knowledge of the key facets of the BAE SYSTEMS (Corporate) Product Safety Policy and attendance at relevant training courses.Understanding of the requirements and constraints of the Polaris Sales Agreement (PSA) and International Trade in Arms Restriction (ITAR) and how these rules impact the day-to-day business of an international Programme such as the Dreadnought.
