Hi
Thinking of getting (back) into singing in the new year? Read on!...
We're a London-based choir that sings pop songs in an acapella style -- ie just our voices, no backing tracks or instruments.
We've got some fun, lively arrangements of well known songs that audiences (and the singers!) really enjoy.
We tend to perform classic pop -- especially from the 80s but also 70s & 90s and wider. For example some of the songs we've done most recently include: Just Can't Get Enough, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Living on a Prayer, Don't Stop Me Now, I'll be there for you, One Day Like This
We've got around 15-20 people who come regularly and are looking for a few more singers to join the group. We'd particularly like to get some extra sopranos (in practice most are mezzo-soprano).
We rehearse near London Bridge on Wednesday evenings (7-9pm). We're friendly and fairly informal and people usually bring wine and snacks along. There's a small monthly fee to pay towards the room hire, but its cheap compared with some other choirs as we run ourselves.
We like to perform too and enjoy doing gigs in pubs, and street festivals etc.
You don't need to have experience of singing in a choir before, or to be able to read sheet music (we've got recorded "teach tracks" to help learn the songs). But we are keen to find people who (once they've checked us out and decided they like the choir) would be willing to commit and come to rehearsals regularly -- listening to the recordings in between to help learn the songs, where needed - and will be happy to perform in gigs once they're up to speed.
We normally get people who are interested to come along to a rehearsal (for free) to meet us, have a go and see what it's all about.
We'll be getting back together after the Christmas break on Wednesday 10 January -- which would be a great first rehearsal to come along to
If you're interested, send me a reply -- ideally tell me something about yourself / any singing experience you might have and let me know any questions you've got.
Thanks!
Ashley
