An enthusiastic and committed local couple is required to run the Brigadier Gerard. This pub was opened as a new pub by Samuel Smiths about 35 years ago and has recently been fully refurbished. The Brigadier Gerard is named after the racehorse whose only defeat was by Mill Reef at York. The pub is situated in a prominent position quite close to the city walls, York St John University and the Minster. It has a good car park and a trade kitchen for serving a branded food menu and on Sundays a fully home-made roast.
